This Week's Nominees:
Ciara Williams, Lexington HS (South Carolina): Won the long jump at the Region 4-5A Championships with a leap of 20-2, making her the top junior in South Carolina in the event. Also placed second in the 100 meters with a time of 12.42.
Destiny Horn, Ridge View (South Carolina): Clocked 11.81 to win the 100 meters at SCHSL 5A - Region 5, establishing herself as the state's top-ranked junior sprinter in the event.
Riley Vaughn, Spartanburg (South Carolina): Put up a state-leading shot put mark of 44-0.35 at SCHSL 5A - Region 2, winning by a comfortable margin. Also captured the discus with a throw of 139-6.8, sweeping both throwing events at the regional meet.
Ashley Roush, Philip Simmons (South Carolina): Cleared a state-leading height of 12-6 in the pole vault at SCHSL 2A - Region 6. Added a long jump victory with a mark of 17-9.78 to complete a strong day in the field events.
Julia Thompson, Travelers Rest (South Carolina): Turned in a dominant throwing performance at SCHSL 4A - Region 2, winning the javelin with a mark of 137-10.33 and taking the discus at 113-9.36. Also competed in the shot put, finishing fifth with a throw of 32-3.01.
