Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
Elle Cocco, Wando (South Carolina): Won the javelin at the SCHSL State Championships - 5A Div. 1 with a throw of 151-4.54, making her the #1 sophomore in the state in the event. Also competed in the shot put, placing fifth with a mark of 36-6.98.
Keira Frye, Batesburg-Leesville (South Carolina): Swept both throwing events at the SCHSL State Championships - 2A, winning the discus with 151-6 and the shot put with 43-4. The discus mark made her the top junior in South Carolina in the event, while her shot put performance ranks her #2 among juniors statewide.
Jhnai Sumter, Lower Richland (South Carolina): Turned in a strong throwing performance at the SCHSL State Championships - 4A, winning the shot put with 43-3.5 and taking the discus title with 139-9.5. She also competed in the javelin, placing fourth with a throw of 125-7.
Graicen Edwards, A.C. Flora (South Carolina) after breaking the 2005 SCHSL State Track and Field 3200-meter record of 10:47.72 (Kate Niehaus, Spring Valley Class of 2006). The record was also broken by two other runners, with Edwards running the fastest of the three days of SCHSL state track and field championships. Edwards in the Class AAAA eight lap race.
