64 high schools, 22 colleges entered in Eye Opener

The 28th annual South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind Eye Opener meet starts Friday at The Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg. 

The college meet is Friday night and high school competition is Saturday morning, a first for the meet.

Sixty-four high school teams consisting of 1,870 runners and 22 college teams are entered. 

2008 Olympian Erin Donohue (UNC-Chapel Hill) will be onsite Saturday at the meet to sign autographs and interact with those attending. 

Donahue clinched an Olympic berth with a second-place finish at the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 1500-meter run. Donohue was a three-time high school national champion in the mile.
