Dutch Fork's Roland Hakes and Fort Mill's Meredith Kilburn have been chosen as scrunners.com cross country runners of the year for 2011. The honor is presented by Go-Green Events and On On Tri.
Hakes won the Class AAAA State title (15:10, personal best, top 2011 state time) and Class AAAA Middle State. Hakes also finished first at Region 4-4A, SCTCCCA Coaches Classic and the Run Wild Festival. Hakes finished second at the S.C.S.D.B. Eye Opener.
Kilburn won the Class AAA State (18:10, personal best, second-best 2011 time in state) and Upper State title. The senior also won titles at Region 4-3A, York county, Furman Invitational and finished second at SCTCCCA Coaches Classic.
Throughout the season scrunners.com, with the support of Go-Green Events and On On Tri, named a male and female runner of the week.
