Shaffer Wins 1600m at Myrtle Beach SC in 4:26.35

Will Shaffer and the Skyhawks of Scott High School of Madison West Virginia competed at the Beach Run Invitational on April 7th, 2012 at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Shaffer, a junior, ran a PR of 4:26.35 in the high school boys’ 1600-meter run, placing first out of a forty-five man field. Will also ran the 800-meter run in 2:02.40, placing fifth.

Shaffer, the 2011West Virginia High School Boys Class AA State Champ in the 3200-meter run and placed third in both the 800m and 1600m, currently has the third fastest-time in the 1600-meter run in all-classes combined. Jacob Burcham of Cabell Midland High School (AAA) has the fastest time with 4:11.5, followed next by Joseph Kirtner of Winfield High School (AAA) in a time of 4:22.48.

Congrats to Will for his individual win and a new PR in the 1600m! Way to represent West Virginia!
