SCTCCCA summer meeting: Crescent's Crawford Hall of Fame inductee


South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association President Eric Cummings opened the association's business meeting with nominations for officers.

    •    Eric Cummings says he will run for a second term as president. It was voted for Cummings to continue in this position.
    •    Class A vice president Rodney Adamee is stepping down from the position.
    •    Jeff Buys (Dorman) will serve as Class AAAA vice president  
    •    Michael Steward (Lower Richland) will serve as Class AAA vice president.
    •    John Javis (Eau Claire) will serve as Class AA vice president, a close race.
    •    Marie Kernell (St. Joseph's) will serve as Class A vice president.
    •    New state records honored (Lexington boys 4x800, Wando girls 4x800, Whale Branch's Andre Watson 200).
    •    Bennie Isaac (Dreher) as assistant track and field coach of the year
    •    Ron Sullivan announces Jim Crawford (Crescent) as hall of fame inductee. Crawford (nominated by Ron Sullivan) will be inducted at the SCTCCCA Coaches Classic in September.
    •    Three-turn-stagger will start effective 2013 season.
    •    John Jones again asks for association coaches to talk to administrations at schools to talk to SCHSL to start indoor season as a sanctioned sport in the state.
    •    SCTCCCA votes to make a one time donation to scrunners.com. The support will go to continue coverage and help with moving the sports forward in the state.     •    Mark Bedenbaugh proposes the SCTCCCA donate to the George Johnson scholarship fund. Johnson passed away while serving as a coach at Ben Lippen. Members voted to make a one time $500 donation to the fund.
