SCTCCCA announces three HOF inductees, indoor discussed

COLUMBIA -  The South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association announced three as the hall of fame inductees for 2013 outdoor season.  

Carl Baker (Sumter), George Moss (Mann) and Steve Mullinax (retired, Fort Mill) will be inducted at the SCTCCCA Coaches Classic meet on March 23.

Spring Valley coach and hall of fame member John Jones made the announcement to coaches during the assocation's winter meeting at the South Carolina High School League office.

  • The SCTCCCA Coaches Classic, a fundraiser for the association, will be hosted at Lower Richland in Hopkins. The decision was made at the winter meeting.

  • State meet location is TBA - high school league is looking into a venue. 
  • Indoor track is discussed under old business. Proposal is to go back to high school league and inform the association would like the indoor season as a sport. 2011 article on indoor sanctioning
  • The association voted to have an indoor meet as a preseason sanctioned meet. The date for the possible event would be Feb. 23. 
  • HSL executive director Jerome Singleton discusses paralympic events at high school track and field meets. Singleton's son Jerome Jr. is an Olympic-level paralympic track and field athlete.
  • Association votes to host a sprint paralympic event at SCTCCCA Coaches Classic.  More to come.
  • Association to donate $500 to Gaffney memorial fund in memory of coach Aaron Anderson.
