From Ed Boehmke: At the present time, (according to the SCHSL), there are not enough schools in the 1A classification that have expressed interest to warrant a State Meet in the 1A, which would require that they qualify and compete with the 2A. If enough Class A athletic directors don't declare they will compete, we'll have seen the last of Class A competition.

@OnceARunnr I don't believe the AD's declare until tomorrow so we should know something next week.

@OnceARunnr What does this mean? Compete with 2A. Will they run more teams in the 2A class or still run 24 teams at the state?

Regardless of the decision to hold a Class State XC Meet, the date of Class A intention submission is much too late. Rather than mid October, the SCHSL should move the submission date to mid September so schools can plan accordingly. A decision in mid October for a major event on November 3 is not reflective of good planning.

There is now a Class A meeet. It looks as though 18 schools in Class A have said they will compete, although five girls teams do not have the numbers to field a full team, and four boys teams do not. (If they only scored 4 runners, two more boys teams could compete as a team!) Good luck to all.
