QUALIFICATIONS AND PROOF OF AGE:
Athletes must have a valid 2013 AAU individual membership in order to enter and compete in the AAU South Carolina District Qualifier. AAU membership may be obtained by going to: www.aauathletics.org
This event is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S., Inc. All participants must have a current AAU membership.
AAU membership is not included as part of the entry fee to the event. AAU membership must be obtained before entering the event.
All waiver/exception requests must be submitted in writing to:aauathleticswaiver@gmail.com. Only inquiries submitted in writing will be considered. When given permission please email jlneddog@aol.com and georgejeanne@bellsouth.net.
No athlete may compete in a younger or older age division in individual events except for relays. 9 Year Old athletes may compete in the 10 Year Old division, 11 Year Old athletes may compete in the 12 Year Old division, and 13 Year Old athletes may compete in the 14 Year Old division in relays only.(Part III, Section C, Rule 3(1)).
Proof of Age is not required to be submitted with entries or payment, but must be submitted to Meet Management “whenever required and/or challenged”. (Part III, Section C. #2 of the 2013 AAU Athletics Handbook).
Acceptable forms of Proof of Age are:
1. Original Birth Certificate;
2. A notarized original birth certificate from the appropriate issuing authority;
3. A US Military Government identification card;
4. A valid passport (not expired) and/or;
5. A valid US driver’s license.

Athletes shall only advance from the District Qualifier to the National Qualifier in the events that they actually competed and qualified at the District level. The exception is the steeplechase and multi-events. These will not be contested at the District Qualifier. Note that each competitor must register and pay to enter in these events at the District Qualifier
regardless of participation and must complete a waiver in order to advance to the National Qualifier.
Waiver/Exception Requests

***Athletes who are still eighteen (18) years of age through the final day of completion in any AAU National Youth Championship meet shall be eligible to compete in the 17-18 age division.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES WAIVERS:
Any athletes scheduled to take a SAT or ACT college entrance exam will be waived to the District Qualifier by the National Qualifier Program Liaison in conjunction with the National Sport Chairman, upon receipt of the proper documentation. Documentation and the request in writing must be received PRIOR to June 1st. The National Program Liaison in conjunction with the National Sport Chairman will have sole responsibility of all decision regarding waivers and/or advancement from the District Qualifier to the National Qualifier.

need to register for the meet and pay entries.
Entries:
Online entry will open on May 6, 2013. All entries will be submitted on-line at www.coacho.com. Entries will NOT BE accepted by any other method. Entries must be complete by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, May 29th. Upon completion of your entries, you will receive a confirmation from the online entry system. Please check this confirmation carefully to ensure that all of your entries have been properly submitted. If there are errors or omissions in your confirmation, it is your responsibility to make the correction before the entry deadline. Meet Management will not be responsible for errors of entry.
All fees must be paid prior to the meet closing. No entry payments will be accepted through mail or in person. Details will be outlined on the Coacho.com registration site once your entries have been completed.
CORRECTIONS/CHANGES: (THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES)
The correction/change deadline is Thursday, May 30th at 8 PM.
Changes and corrections completed during this period must be sent via email only to georgejeanne@bellsouth.net. Incomplete entries, changes or corrections made after 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 30th will be
assessed a Change Fee of $5.00 per athlete.
Absolutely no changes or correction will be accepted after 11:59 pm on Thursday, May 30th.
The $5.00 change fee will automatically be assessed and must be paid at packet pick up.

ENTRY FEES:
Athletes participating in individual and multi-events must pay both entry fees.

Individual
Relays: Multi-Events:
RELAY RACES:
$20.00 for each individual athlete
(3 events maximum 8-Under, 9 Year Old, 10 Year Old, 11 Year Old or 12 Year Old age divisions)
(4 events maximum 13 Year Old, 14 Year Old, 15-16 Year Old or 17-18 Year Old age divisions)
Above maximum events includes relay entry as a principal or alternate but does not include multi- events.
No additional charge for relays but be advised that entry into a relay even as an alternate counts as an individual event
Triathlon/Pentathlon $20 per individual
Heptathlon/Decathlon $20 per individual
1. 2. Participation of relay teams shall be limited to those clubs which hold current valid AAU membership only.
3. Relay teams shall consist of four (4) members plus up to four (4) alternate members, for a maximum of eight (8)
total from the same club, to be declared at the time of entry into each meet.
4. All participating team members must wear tops and bottoms of the same color at National Qualifiers and National Championships.
PACKET PICK UP:
Clubs and individual athletes will be able to obtain their race related information at the track Saturday June 1st and Sunday June 2nd at 7:00 am.
GATE FEES:
Spectators: $5.00 per day or $8.00 weekend pass.
Free: Competing athletes, children under 5, volunteers, officials, and coaches who are listed on the AAU Coach Certification Report dated May 30th, 2013.
Cash only and please help us by arriving with exact change.
WARM UP AREA:
Athletes may warm up in the designated warm up area. WARMING UP ON THE TRACK WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ONCE COMPETION FOR EACH DAY HAS BEGUN.
AWARDS:
First through third place finishers will receive AAU medals. Each team should delegate one representative to pick up their medals. Parents will not be allowed to pick up awards for their individual children unless the child is running unattached.
CALL OF EVENTS:
Sunday.
Each competitor must report to the Clerk of Course at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the event. They will receive their lane assignment and hip number.
In the case of field events, the competitor must report to the Field Judge in charge of the field event. If an athlete is in both a field event and a running event, he/she must check in at both events, and then request to be excused to participate in the running event. He/she must return to the field event before it is in final stage.
Absolutely no coaches, parents or book bags will be allowed into the clerking area. Athletes must enter the clerking area ready to compete.
For all events: Note that calls may or may not be made. If the meet is running behind schedule, call intervals may be shortened. However, events will go forward as outlined in the schedule. Please check the time schedule carefully for any potential conflict with each event.
Implement Weigh-In: All implements must be weighed in at the Weigh In designated area prior to competition. If the implement has not been approved it will not be accepted in competition.
COMPETITION BIB NUMBERS:
All competitors must wear their assigned bib number on the front of their shirts only. The only exception is pole vault competitors who may wear their numbers on the back of their shirts. If an athlete loses their number, they may purchase a replacement number for a fee of $5.00. All athletes must have a bib number to compete in any event.
RULES:
The South Carolina AAU District Qualifier will be conducted under the AAU Code of Guidelines and follow the competitive rules of the National Governing Board as modified and outlined in the 2013 AAU Athletics Handbook. This book can be obtained at www.aauathletics.org. Unless otherwise stated in this handbook, the rules of competition shall be those of USA Track & Field (USATF) per Part III, Section C, #1.
Time Schedule- Remember each event can run 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

PROTESTS:
All protests must be filed with the Referee not more than 30 minutes after the result has been announced and/or posted, whichever comes first, in accordance with Part II, Section B, Number 5 of the 2013 AAU Athletics Handbook. A CASH fee of $50.00 must be submitted when filing a protest. The money will only be returned if the protest is upheld.
JURY OF APPEALS:
The jury of appeals will be assigned prior to the start of the meet. A protester may appeal an unfavorable decision of the Referee to the Jury of Appeals. The decision of the Jury of Appeals is final.
INCLEMENT WEATHER:
In the case of inclement weather, meet management reserves the right to delay or postpone the completion of the meet. Communication regarding inclement weather plans will be handled during the course of the meet. It is the responsibility of the team, coach, or parent to make him/her selves available for these communications.
ADVANCEMENT TO AREA 8B NATIONAL QUALIFIER:
The top 16 athletes in each event from the South Carolina AAU District Qualifier Meet, including relays and multi events, qualify to compete in the 2013 AREA 8B National Qualifier, June 27 – June 30, to be held at Lower Richland High School, Hopkins, South Carolina. Note that hotel rooms from the hotel listing provided must be booked by June 7th for this event.
AAU NATIONALS:
The AAU National Junior Olympic Games will be held at Eastern Michigan University, Yipsilanti, Michigan, July 27th through August 3rd, 2013. The top five (5) athletes in individual and field events and top four (4) relay teams and the multi-event athletes at each Area National Qualifier Meet will advance to the AAU National Junior Olympic Games. FACILITY RULES:
1. No use or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs will be tolerated.
2. Spikes only 1/4 permissible on the track.
3. No smoking is allowed.
4. No loud radios or music allowed.
5. Pets are not allowed in the stadium.
6. Tents, large umbrellas and canopies will be allowed in designated areas only. Meet Management will advise on
this.
7. Please place all trash in receptacles that are provided. Trash bags will be provided at packet pick up.
8. No selling of any merchandise will be allowed without consent of the Meet Management.
