Dear Coaches,

We are excited to extend an invitation for your teams to participate in the 24th Raising Canes /Azalea Track & Field Invitational on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Summerville High School.

We hope that you will be attending our meet again this year. Once again, we will be providing a luncheon for all coaches and meet officials.

Your entry fee is due by Friday, March 3, 2017 to reserve your place at the Raising Canes. On-line entries must be received by Tuesday, March 7, 2016. Failure to send in an entry fee will result in your entries being deleted from the meet.

The entry fee is $85.00 for boys or girls teams, $150.00 for both boys and girls teams, or $15.00 per individual. Make checks payable to “SHAC.” Individual entries will be accepted if room is available. All entry fees along with the Entry Notification Form located at the bottom of this page should be mailed to Summerville High School, C/O Kevin Bellush at the above address.

Host: The Summerville High School Track & Field Program

Location: Summerville High School, Summerville, South Carolina

Directions: From I-95 and I-77, take I-26 East toward Charleston to Exit 199-A Summerville (Route 17-A). Follow Rt. 17-A for
approximately 4-5 miles. Summerville High School will be on the left. The track is located behind the school. Buses should park in the school parking lot. Cars can park along Green Wave Blvd. next to the track or in the school lot. Those parking along Green Wave Blvd. should look for the sign for the Summerville H.S. Track and turn left onto Green Wave Blvd. before you get to the school.

Entry Fees: An entry fee of $85.00 per team ($150.00 for boys and girls teams) or $15.00 per individual athlete will be charged. Your entry fee and entry notification must be received by March 4, 2016 to reserve your place at the Outback and before you can enter your athletes. All team entries must be received on-line at www.scrunners.com by March 8, 2016 at 11:59 pm. NO REFUNDS will be made after March 8, 2016. Please see the attached instructions regarding on-line entries. Make checks payable to “SHAC” and send along with the Entry Notification Form on the cover letter to Kevin Bellush at the address listed below.

Entry Limits: Each team is permitted to enter two (2) athletes per individual event and one (1) relay team per relay event.

Check-In: Team packets will be available at the scoring tower by 8:00 am on the day of the meet. Substitutions may be made with the Clerk of Course or the Field Event Judge, as long as no one violates the participation rule, which limits athletes to four events.

Equipment: The wearing of spikes longer than 1/4” will result in disqualification from that event. Starting blocks and throwing implements will be provided. (please bring own poles)

Rules: All National Federation rules will be strictly enforced. A contestant shall not compete in more than four events. Rule 4-3 concerning uniforms will be enforced. No jewelry, hats or headbands will be allowed during competition. The top 8 places in each event will be scored.

Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in both the Boys and Girls Divisions. Medals will be awarded to the top three
places in each event. Plaques will also be awarded to the Most Outstanding Track Athlete and Field Athlete in both divisions and some other special awards.

Admission An admission fee of $5.00 will be charged for spectators.

T-shirts: High quality, multi-colored commemorative T-shirts will be on sale for $15. Please inform your athletes ahead of time. We
are relying on this to help pay for the expenses of the meet.

Concessions: A variety of items will be available all day at our concession stand.

Coaches A complimentary luncheon for coaches & meet officials will be provided. Tickets will be distributed
Luncheon: with the team packets. This luncheon is for coaches & meet officials only so please do not give tickets to parents or athletes.

Track Events: Check in for track events will be behind the starting line for all running events. The track events will not run ahead of schedule in the morning, but if we get ahead of schedule after the lunch break, the meet will NOT be slowed down!

Field Events: Check in for field events at the event site at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event time or by the time the 3rd call has been made. The following events will begin at the indicated starting heights: Boys High Jump (5’ 6”), Girls High Jump (4’ 4”), Boys Pole Vault (10’ 0”), and Girls Pole Vault (7’ 0”). Each athlete will be given 4 attempts in LJ, TJ, Shot, and Discus. After their first successful attempt in the Discus and Shot Put, marks will only be measured if they reach the minimum distances: Boys Discus (120’) Girls Discus (80’) Boys Shot Put (40’) Girls Shot Put (30’).
