5th Annual

Dorman Distance Carnival

Saturday, February 22, 2020

This year's Dorman Distance Carnival will be on Saturday, Feb. 22. This is a "scrimmage" meet for your distance runners; please consider bringing some of your sprinters to compete in the 4x4. This meet is low-key but a lot of fun and has been a competitive early season meet the past four years.

We try to keep it limited on the teams so it's not an all-day meet. Currently we have 15 teams but we could add just a few more.

We have an "Elite Mile Run", a true mile for runners sub 4:45 (boys) and 5:45 (girls).

(Girls under 5:45, boys under 4:45 for 1600m/mile with verifiable time in MileSplit database or equivalent time at another race distance)

We will have an Alumni/Open Mile Run (open to anyone) and a Youth 800 (grades 3-6).

Coaches, you may want to consider seeding new runners with "no time" so they are placed in the appropriate section. The fastest runners will be in the last section. The other sections could have a large number of entries. Each school has unlimited entries...bring your entire distance squad.

Seeding times should be last year's personal best for each runner or slower, if necessary.

Teams are not required to wear official track uniforms since this is a pre-season scrimmage. A school identifying t-shirt is optional.

Our school has a Mondo track surface. We will have automatic timing by Matt Feiling.

Meet t-shirts will be for sale. Please let your athletes know. The back of the t-shirt will have participating schools listed. I will need to know by Feb. 18 if your team will be competing to be included on the t-shirt design.

Entries will be done on SCRunners.

Sprinters or distance runners can be entered in the 4x400 relay. We encourage you to bring a group of sprinters for the relay.

Entry fee: $50 covers both boys and girls. Individual entry fee is $10. This will help to cover costs for timing, security, parking, etc. There will also be a small admission charge for spectators of $4.

Elite mile run entrants who run unattached will not have to pay an entry fee.

If you are interested in attending, please send an e-mail expressing your interest and commitment to enter to:
