Terrier Track Teams Open Outdoor Season With Eight School Records

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wofford track and field teams opened the outdoor season by establishing eight school records in the 49ers Invitational, hosted by UNC Charlotte.

For the women, freshman Andrea Kelsey finished third in the 3000 meter run with a school-record time of 10:41.00 while also establishing a record in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:52.73.

Freshman Emily Gothberg put her name in the Terrier record books in the 400 meter dash, clocking in at a time of 1:02.58 and also set a school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.02.

Freshman Shelby Harris turned in the best time of her career in the 5000 meter run, setting a school record with a time of 18:38.44.

Three school records were broken on the men’s side, as freshman Trey Parker claimed 15th in the 3000 meter run with a school record time of 9:03.31. Parker also ran a record-setting time of 4:08.09 in the 1500 meter run.

Senior Bryan Brooks notched the third record-setting performance for the men, finishing with a time of 15:45.45 in the 5000 meter run.

The teams will compete next at the Asics Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. on March 27.
