GREER -- The Riverside boys cross country team has had a stellar history in the sport, with consecutive state titles in the late 80s and throughout most of the 90s.
But lately, that momentum seems to have swung to the school’s female squad, and this season’s team may be its best yet.
Heading into this weekend’s Greenville County Championships at Hillcrest, the Lady Warriors are No. 1 in the state in the SCTCCCA rankings, a spot they’ve held for most of the season.
The team has had what coach Eric Cummings describes as a “solid” year, with first-place finishes in several meets, including the Coaches Classic, Lake Murray, Canned Food Invitational, Cavalier Classic and the Golden Strip Invitational. They placed second at the S.C.S.D.B. Eye Opener and third at Wendy’s.
