COLUMBIA -- Daniel High junior Laurie Barton won the girls' 800 Saturday at the Taco Bell Classic with a time of 2:10.79, the best girls' time at that distance in the state this year.

Barton set a new PR in the event, besting her previous best by eight seconds.
If this were the state meet, she would have bettered the record of 2:11.34 held by Imani Boatwright since 2013.
