The Scoop: Athletes Emerging in March, National Leaderboard Evolving

5. Gabe Oladipo booms a 211 foot, 7 inch throw in the discus, setting a new PR by two feet

This weekend, the nation's top two discus throwers made statements, with both going over 211 feet at their respective meets in Arizona and Texas. In Arizona, Canyon Del Pro High's Turner Washington went 211-1 in an impressive feat.

But just east in Texas came Fort Bend Hightower High's Gabe Oladipo, who mounted a better mark by six inches, hurling a nation-best mark of 211-7 to sit No. 30 overall in the boys high school all-time discuss marks. In the past six years, four high school discus throwers have broken into the all-time list, including No. 1 Ryan Crouser out of Barlow, Oregon. Can Washington and Oladipo follow?
