Middle Tennessee vs. East Tennessee in Chattanooga
Two of the state's best teams -- Oak Ridge and Montgomery Bell Academy -- will face off this weekend at the McCallie XC Invite. These teams won't compete for a TSSAA State Title in a little over a month, but both will get a good barometer of where they're at with conference meets just a month away.
MBA comes in as the slight favorite, but Oak Ridge has a good chance to win this meet as well.
Here's what the early projections look like:
# | Team | Score | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Montgomery Bell Academy | 52 | 2 | 7 | 11 | 12 | 20 | - | - |
2 | Oak Ridge High School | 68 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 15 | 45 | - | - |
3 | Baylor School | 104 | 13 | 17 | 19 | 27 | 28 | - | - |
4 | Nolensville High School | 110 | 5 | 9 | 14 | 38 | 44 | - | - |
5 | McCallie School | 136 | 16 | 23 | 29 | 33 | 35 | - | - |
Oak Ridge will be led by senior Jose Villegas, who is looking to get under 16 minutes for the first time this season. But MBA's fifth runner, Tillman Dean, will be the key factor here. He's projected to finish over twenty spots ahead of Oak Ridge's five.
Also, this is an early test for newcomers Nolensville, who are just starting Varsity competition at their brand new school.
On the flat course at Mocassin Bend, this meet should provide some fast times. I'd expect lots of PRs.
