Spring Valley coach John Jones and Westside coach Kwabene Brown will receive special awards during Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C., National Scholastic Sports Foundation representative John Blackburn told scrunners.com Friday afternoon.

Quick Striders and Westside track and field coach Kwabene Brown has been released from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Quick Striders president Richard Kerns announced Sunday at the USATF state association annual meeting in Spartanburg.

USATF-S.C. association announced on Aug. 14 a total of $1,315 has been raised for the Kwabene Brown fund.

Quick Striders and Westside coach remains in intensive care

Pendleton rising sophomore Jasmin Stowers leaves July 7 and returns July 16 from Czech Republic. Competing in 100-meter hurdles. Meet starts July 11 and concludes July 15.

The USA Track & Field / South Carolina Association has set up a fund to help Coach Kwabene Brown, known to all of us in track & field as KB,  and his family through this difficult period. The fund will be accepting any donations to help Coach KB.  Every donation will go directly to KB and his family. 

Westside and Quick Striders coach Kwabene Brown is back in intensive care following a second surgery last Thursday, according to an e-mail sent by USATF-S.C.

Greenwood's Chad Phillips (2007, high jump, long jump, triple jump) and Pendleton's Jasmin Stowers (2010, hurdles) are Gatorade Athletes of the Year in track and field for South Carolina.
