Region 8AAAA loses Battery Creek for the 08-09 season as they drop down to the AAA level. The New Region 8 consists of two Dorchester County schools - Ft. Dorchester & Summerville; plus Colleton County, Beaufort, and West Ashley.

This March 3rd is the 1st Annual Sandlapper Track and Field Classic hosted West Ashley High School. This Invitational replaces the very successful \"Wildcat Relays\" which were always held the 2nd Saturday of March. Due to a major scheduling conflict the \"Classic\" had to be moved to the first Saturday for just this year.
West Ashley moves to Region 8-AAAA for the 2006-2007 athletic season. The Wildcats join Battery Creek, Beaufort, Colleton County, Ft. Dorchester, and Summerville in that region.
While in Region 7-AAAA, West Ashley hosted the region track and field championships the past five years and also hosted the region cross country championships in 2001 and 2004.
