Blythewood’s Alston, Lower Richland’s Bacon entered in Diamond Hornets meet

Lower Richland’s Jaylen Bacon is entered in the 100, 200, and long jump on his home track for the Diamond Hornets Invitational.

Bacon, attending Arkansas State in the fall, is the 2013 100-meter state champion (10.79). Bacon finished third in the 400 at state with a personal record of 48.89. Bacon is the top returner in the 100 (10.56). 


Blythewood’s Jena Alston, the top returner in the 100, is entered in the 100 and 200 Saturday. Alston won the 100 title (11.89) and placed third in the 200 (24.89) at the 2013 Taco Bell Classic.

Lakewood’s Otis Jones is entered with 1 minute, 56.41 seed time in the 800, a time he ran enroute to a win in the event at the Class AAA state meet.

Richland Northeast’s Malik Scott is the top seed in the triple jump (44-11.5). Scott is the top returner in the event. 

Twenty-six teams are entered in the Diamond Hornets Invitational at Lower Richland in Hopkins.
