Dorman\'s Rowland wins 55 in Knoxville

 

Marcus Rowland, a junior at Dorman, captured the 55-meter dash title in 6.39 seconds at the Volunteer Indoor Classic. Rowland was second in the preliminaries in 6.46.

Rowland transferred to Dorman this past summer after attending Boiling Springs, according to Dorman coach Jerry Kimbrell.

White Knoll senior Matt Shuler finished second in the pole vault with a best height of 15 feet. Michael Seamen (Ky.) won the event by judges' decision.

Northwestern senior Stuart McDaniel placed fourth overall in the 1600-meter run in 4:34.09.

Stowers ties for second in 60 hurdles
Pendleton hurdler Jasmine Stowers, running for Quick Striders Track Club, tied for second in the 60-meter hurdles with former Westside star Polly Hardy (Clemson) in 8.52 seconds.

In the preliminaries Hardy was first in 8.49 seconds and Stowers second in 8.53.

Fort Mill senior David Huckaby finished 21st out of 41 competitors in the mile run. Running unattached, Huckaby tied for the 21st spot with Georgia Tech's Chris Bishop in 4:32.45.

In the men's 3000-meter unseeded run Huckaby placed 21st in 9:28.04 in a field of 27.

Brookins fifth in Tyson Invitational 60

Seneca senior Kya Brookins placed fifth in the 60-meter dash at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Friday night.

Brookins ran 7.43 with Marshevet Hooker (adidas) first in 7.26 seconds.

Seven athletes competed in the event.

Brookins finished fourth last Friday in the Hershey's women's 60-meter dash Friday night at the 100th Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.
