Today marks my 10th full day in Barrow.

I wanted to give you a little information about the weather here.  After snowing lightly the first couple of days, the weather turned sunny but has remained cold or relatively so.  The temperatures have remained in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s just about every day and the night is not much different.  The one constant is the wind.  I have sent a couple pictures showing the wind speed and the wind chill.  The wind was blowing at about 22 knots or 26 mph, and the wind chill was 13.1 °F.  Any exposed part of the body, such as your hands, gets cold very rapidly.

My workouts so far have consisted of three runs, two sessions of indoor soccer, and one climbing wall session.  A climbing wall in Barrow?.....yes and a fairly nice one.  It only cost $3 including shoes and harness.  A couple of people who are on the same biocomplexity project that I am on are very good climbers and the three of us took a couple hours out of the day today to go climb the wall.  The last section has quite an outcropping.  I went up but just could not make it to the top.

Check out the picture showing it.  I think you can tell how far the wall juts out from the gym wall at that point.  The goal on that section is too reach the skeleton skull at the far upper left of the wall.  I think you can make it out.

We are still waiting on the snow to clear in order to start collecting data.  I am hoping to get into a better workout routine once that happens.

I hear it’s hot in S.C.  I’m not sure which I would rather have: heat or cold?
