Summerville’s Abigail Bozarth talks about being named to the Shrine Bowl Run team, the season and future plans.

What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?
Being named to the Shrine Bowl Run team is a huge honor to me and it makes me feel as though I accomplished something good my senior cross country season. Also, I am very thankful to have this amazing opportunity to help the hospital in this small way.
What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
My cousin made it into the Shrine Bowl Run last year and I heard that it was a huge honor to be part of the team.
What do you hope to experience on Dec. 20?
I hope to run fast and make some friends with the other very talented runners in South Carolina.
How are you preparing to run with a football?
I will prepare by practicing holding a football and run with it in my arms so that I can determine the most efficient way to hold it.
How would you rate your senior season?
As much as I loved my senior season I would not rank it as my favorite because I did not get the time I wanted at state.
What future goals do you have?
My future goals are to get faster at running, earn a good college education, work with prosthetics as my career, and raise a good family.
Have you made the decision to compete at the next level?
I have made the decision to compete at the next level because I want to run on a competitive college team and also become competitive personally at the collegiate level.
How did you get involved with the sport and when?
I got involved with cross country my sixth grade year because my fifth grade track coach, coach Kelly Hazel convinced me to try it and I am so thankful she did.
Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
No.
How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
I have seen cross country change to become an amazing and competitive sport that represents discipline and hard work.
What was your motivation for your final XC season?
My biggest motivation for my final cross country season was the excitement of having a chance to show my skills to colleges in hopes of making a team.
If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would love to go on a mission trip to share the good news of Jesus Christ to people who have not had the chance to get to know him.
