What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?

It is a tremendous honor to be chosen for this team, and I have always thought it is noble to serve others and this will give me a great opportunity to do that.

What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
My teammate Samuel Whatley ran in the run last year, and told me it was a great experience.

What do you hope to experience  on  Dec. 20?
I look forward to meeting other runners in the state, and seeing firsthand the great work of the shriners hospital.

How are you preparing to run with a football?
I played football as a ninth grader so it shouldn’t be too hard.

How would you rate your senior season?
I was very pleased with my season as I accomplished many of my goals including being selected for this great event.

What future goals do you have?
To continue to participate in cross country, and pursue a degree in physics.

Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.

Yes, I have committed to run cross country at Presbyterian College.

How did you get involved with the sport and when?
I come from a family of endurance athletes, so I have always been around the sport. I started running competitively in 10th grade after giving up football.

Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
No, but I am familiar with the great work they do.

How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
The sport has grown tremendously in the short time I have been running, as times have gotten faster and more and more athletes are becoming interested.

What was your motivation for your final XC season?
My motivations this season where centered on performing for my coach and mentor Andrew King who helped and motivated me to always get better. As well as trying to perform well enough to run at the collegiate level.

If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would like to run a marathon on all seven continents.
