Criterium-style racing returns to downtown Columbia

Criterium-style racing returns to downtown Columbia New Years Eve for the Main Street Crit. The event includes a kids run, 5K run and elite 8K. 

The course is a two-block loop downtown. 

Adam Freudenthal, Matt Elliott and runners from Furman Elite are entered in the 8K. 

Zola (Budd) Pieterse is now entered in the women's elite field. 

Racers in the Elite 8K will compete to win up to $8,000 in prize money.

Kids will race at 3 p.m., open 5K at 3:30 and the elite 8K starts at 4:45. 

The kids run is one lap, 5K six laps and 8K nine laps.
