SPARTANBURG -- Broome High's Bauvier Jackson turned in one of his best performances of the season against some of the best high school discus throwers on the East Coast a few weeks back at Taco Bell, placing second in a highly competitive and entertaining field event at Spring Valley High.

His best throw on that Saturday afternoon -- 185-10 -- was four-and-a-half feet short of the winning throw, but it was Jackson's best effort of the season.

His performance also erased whatever lingering memories he, and his coach, Skip Frye, may have had about Jackson's results earlier this season at the Bob Jenkins SCTCCCA Coaches Classic, where he placed second in the discus with a disappointing throw of 162-10. It was his worst effort in competition since last April.
