Westside coach Kwabene (K.B.) Brown attends coaches association meeting

Westside coach Kwabene Brown attended the South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association winter meeting earlier today at the high school league office in Columbia. Northwestern senior Mary Kate DuBard and Chapin senior Luke Lovelace, both on college visits this weekend, were named Gatorade State Cross Country Athletes of the Year, announced earlier this week.

Both DuBard and Lovelace were visiting North Carolina State University this weekend, Northwestern coach Calvin Hudgins said at the meeting. The two, both running the fastest times at the state championships on Nov. 3 (DuBard, 18:02; Lovelace 15:10) were honored at the meeting and trophies will be handed to them at the Coaches Classic meet on March 22 at Lower Richland High School for this achievement.

Seneca coach Tom Jordan and Ninety Six's Cheryl Browning were announced as 2008 inductees into the association hall of fame. Both will be inducted at Coaches Classic.
