Mann's Nelson, Dorman's Rowland come home champions from Kentucky

Dorman senior Marcus Rowland sealed a 60-meter dash win of 6.74 seconds over Georgia's Kenneth Gilstrap (6.85), four-hundreds of a second off the meet record (1999) at the University of Kentucky indoor invitational Saturday in Lexington.  See video of Rowland's win (courtesy of https://ky.milesplit.com).

Rowland finished first in the preliminaries with a time of 6.74 seconds. Dorman's Ash Butler ran a Nike Indoor Nationals time of 7.23 seconds, good for 25th place in the preliminaries.

Pendleton sophomore Jasmin Stowers finished second in the 60-meter hurdles behind Tennessee's Jacquelyn Coward, a senior. The Bulldog ran 8.38 seconds to Coward's 8.25. Stowers was second in the preliminaries, behind Coward in 8.60 seconds. Coward ran 8.42 in the preliminaries.

Stowers finished seventh overall in the 60-meter dash, qualifying for Nike Indoor Nationals with her 7.78 finals time. Stowers finished third in the preliminaries (7.68 seconds). See video of Stowers' race (courtesy of https://ky.milesplit.com).

Mann sophomore Briana Nelson brought home another for South Carolina, sealed the 400-meter dash title over Maryland's Elan Hilaire. Nelson finished in 54.71 seconds to Hilaire's 55.94. Nelson finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.04 seconds.

Dorman sophomore Brandon Easler finished 13th overall in the two mile run. The Cavalier finished in nine minutes, 55.03 seconds. Broome senior Stefan Shealy was 17th in the 28 person field in 10 minutes, 1.93 seconds.

Roebuck Track Club's boy's 1600-meter relay team finished fourth in three minutes, 26.45 seconds, a Nike Indoor Nationals qualifying time.

National Scholastic Indoor Championships is slated for March 13-16 in New York, New York at The Armory. Nike Indoor Nationals is slated for March 15-16 in Landover, Md.

Outdoor weekend action begins in South Carolina March 1 with the Sandlapper Classic at West Ashley High School and Sumter Optimist Relays at Sumter High School.
