Speaker for the 2009 Furman Blue Shoes Dinner on April 10 Bill Rodgers will kick off the Blue Shoes Weekend, presented by the Greenville Track Club, at 5 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency downtown, according to the official Web site.
The Greenville News is sponsoring the Friday night event.
Rodgers, according to furmanblueshoes.com, is known for winning the Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon four times between 1975 and 1980.
He twice broke the American record at Boston.
