Track and Field Earns Three of TheState.com Athlete of the Week Honors

Marshawn Martin, Tiaerra McLaurin, and Terrence Brown were each named Athlete of the Week by thestate.com on April 13.

Midlands: Martin, a senior at Richland Northeast set a new meet and school record of 1:53.96 at the Taco Bell Classic. In an article on thestate.com Martin mentioned how he hopes to break the long-standing state record of 1:52.04 set by Hartsville's Terance Herrington in 1984. Martin also mentioned in the article how he would like to run under the 1:50 mark before graduation. Martin sealed a win at the Coaches Classic in March with a 1:58.25 finishing time.

Upstate: McLaurin, a junior at Northwestern captured the 200-meter title at Taco Bell in 24.35 seconds.

Lowcountry: Brown, a senior at Summerville surpassed the 59-foot mark in the shot put this past weekend at Taco Bell with a best heave of 59-6.25.
