Alumni notebook: Rowland named SEC freshman runner of the year

Dorman alumnus Marcus Rowland was named Southeastern Conference's male freshman outdoor runner of the year, the conference announced Monday. 
Rowland is the top-ranked freshman in the 100- and 200-meter dash, according to
Andrews alumnus Pope wins Calif. JuCo. 400 hurdles
Andrews alumnus Marcus Pope finished first in the 400-meter hurdles at the California Community College Championships in San Mateo, Calif. 
Pope, a freshman at Mt. San Antonio, finished with a time of 51.27 seconds, 1.49 seconds ahead of Sacramento's Michael Broussard (52.76). 
Rowland third in 100 and 200 at SEC Championships
Dorman alumnus Marcus Rowland, a freshman at Auburn (Ala.) University finished third in the both the 100- and 200-meter dash at the Southeastern Conference Championships in Gainesville, Fla. 
Rowland's 100 time of 10.13 seconds ranks fourth in Auburn history and fourth in the NCAA, according to Rowland finished the 200 in 20.73 seconds. 
Northwestern alumna Smith prepares for regional
College of Charleston freshman Emily Smith captured her second Southern Conference high jump title.
Smith finished first in the indoor event in February at Clemson. The former Trojan has a regional qualifier mark of 1.75-meters (5-9), set at the Southern Conference Championships.
Daniel alumna Gammon third in the 10,000 at Conference USA
Stephanie Gammon, a sophomore at UAB, finished third in the 10,000-meter at the Conference USA Championships in Tulsa, Okla. 
Gammon finished the 25-lap event in 35 minutes, 43.67 seconds, a new personal record according to
