USATF Junior Olympics ends with record participants

MYRTLE BEACH -- USATF South Carolina Association announced a record number of participants in this past weekend's state Junior Olympics. 

Over 930 athletes competed in the meet. The previous record was 700, according to USATF state representative Valerie Beesley. Beesley added, Quick Striders, Mt. Pleasant Track Club and the Summerville Storm teams each brought more athletes than previous years. 


Four new teams, Greenville Jets, Jump Start, Myrtle Beach Track and Field and Upstate Track and Field competed in the meet.

MYRTLE BEACH -- USATF South Carolina Association is hosting the state Junior Olympics meet this weekend at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach.

The track portion of the meet starts Friday at 5 p.m. with the 1500-meter racewalk. Action concludes on Friday at 7 p.m. with the 2000-meter steeplechase. Field events start at 2 p.m.

The meet ends Sunday afternoon.
