What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and helping the hospital?
It feels great because I have always wanted to make a difference in the world and help the less fortunate as much as I can and this is a perfect way to start out.
What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
I heard from my brother who ran it two years ago that you run with a football and have a lot of fun with other runners you know.
What do you hope to experience from The Run?
Well I hope to experience great memories with fellow runners I have been running with for the past 7 years and I get to run with Kade Gosnell one of my closest competitors so it will be fun.
How are you preparing to run with a football?
I haven't. Just going to wing it
How would you rate your senior season?
I would rate it 8/10 since I had a bad start in the summer and dealt with some setbacks that cost me fast times this season but it will still a good season.
What future goals do you have?
Well, I plan to run for Anderson University and major in kinesiology.
Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Explain.
Yes, I plan to run at Anderson University because I really connect with the team there and I felt like it was the school for me with a great group of guys and coach that can make me better.
How did you get involved with the sport and when?
Well, my sister was running in seventh grade and they had this fun run at our state meet that year and my dad signed me up and I ran like three times before the race and ended up running low 21 for my first 5K and I was in fifth grade and I fell in love with it ever since.
Do you have any relations or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
No, I do not.
How have you seen the sports change in the state?
Well, I have seen that a lot of guys are getting faster at young ages and it's becoming more popular. I have also seen the running community grow.
What was your motivation for your final XC season?
My final motivation was my coach. I have been with Coach (Steve) Conway (Inside look: Conway and Spartanburg Christian - 2015) for seven years now and I felt like I had to give it everything I had this last season of XC with him since he has sacrificed so much for me. I wouldn't be where I am today without him.
If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would like to meet my three hero's in running: Ryan Hall, Mo Farah, and Eliud Kipchoge.
