U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials Start Friday

With the 2004 Olympics getting close to reality the track and field athletes are preparing for the trials with hopes of making it to the finals. Below is information on the track and field trials along with several sources of information on the track and field portion of the Olympic Games.

The Olympic Track and Field Team USA Trials is set for July 9-18 at Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, CA. On the USATF website a schedule of events, ticket information, a television broadcasting schedule, entries status, entry information, athlete information, media information and 2000 Olympic Trial results are available.

The top three finishers in each event will represent the United States at the Olympic Games in Athens. Sacramento is only the second city ever to host consecutive Olympic Trials for Track and Field.

The 2000 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Track and Field attracted a record 187,104 spectators, surpassing the previous record set in Atlanta in 1994.

    Note: The Junior Olympic T & F Regional Championships is taking place from July 8-11 at USC in Columbia.
