Shrine Bowl Run: Meet Caelin Sloan of South Florence

Caelin Sloan talks with scrunners about her running journey prior to the Mike Moore Shrine Bowl Run on Saturday.

Hobbies: Baking and cooking
Academic interest: To become a sports nutritionists
Personal bests: 5000m- 17:24, 3200m - 10:57, 1600m - 5:07




What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and help the hospital?
It means a lot. 


What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year? 
I've had teammates who participated in this event and they told me it was a great experience that taught them a lot.


What do you hope to experience during the event?
I hope to learn more about Shriners hospital and get to know the other runners.

How would you rate your senior season? 
It is probably a 8/10 not perfect but really good. 




What future goals do you have? 
I want to become a marathon runner.


Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain. 
Yes, I am signed to run at Clemson University next year.


How did you get involved with the sport and when? 
I started track and cross country in 2015 running with our local club team.




Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
No.

How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain. 
Over my high school time, the competition in South Carolina for distance running has definitely become a lot more competitive and faster. 

What was your motivation for your final XC season?
 
I was injured all of my junior xc season so my main goal was to just finish all of my races and have fun. 

If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I would want to help others and give back to them because doing nice things for other people is one of the things that makes me happy.
