Name: Brendan Gomez
Hobbies: Running
Academic interest: Marketing
Personal bests: 5K: 15:04 , 3200: 9:24

What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and help the hospital?
It's a huge honor. I'm really looking forward to it.

What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year?
All I knew prior was that people did a relay type run with a football.

What do you hope to experience during the event?
Just enjoy my time there and get to interact with everyone.

"I want to go sub nine in the 3200 and put myself in the best position possible to be a top runner in college, as well as just continue to improve as a person." - Wando's Brendan Gomez

How are you preparing to run with a football?
I was a running back when I played football prior to joining XC.

How would you rate your senior season?
5/10. We got the team title which was amazing, but individually I have a lot of unfinished business that I plan to accomplish on the track.

What future goals do you have?
I want to go sub nine in the 3200 and put myself in the best position possible to be a top runner in college, as well as just continue to improve as a person.

Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.
I have committed to run for the University of Tennessee.

How did you get involved with the sport and when?
I joined Mt. Pleasant Track Club in late elementary school but until high school I was doing both cross and soccer.

Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
I do not.

How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
The level of competition has been raised. I can't remember a year where one division had three guys under 15:05 like 5A did this year, and just the overall depth of the state is at a level it's never been at before. It's awesome to see and really cool that everyone is helping better each other.

What was your motivation for your final XC season?
Win a state title for Wando.

If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
I'm already doing what I want to do. Running well, working hard, and enjoying life with friends and family, there isn't much more I could ask for. Meeting Tom Brady would be pretty cool though.
