What does it mean to be named to the Shrine Bowl Run team and help the hospital?
It is a really special moment to be recognized your senior year after competing in the sport and looking up to the seniors for so long. What did you hear about the Shrine Bowl Run before this year? That it was an event to recognize the seniors in high school.
What do you hope to experience during the event?
I hope all the seniors from around the state get to bond and enjoy the event together.
How are you preparing to run with a football?
I have been training all month watching a film of Jake Dentler as a baby as he crawled with the football. I have also been training with our football team rather than preparing for track and field.
How would you rate your senior season?
I would give my senior season a 10/10, I believe I enjoyed the season as much as I could have and got every last bit of fun out of this sport and my team.
What future goals do you have?
I would like to make a big impact on a college team and become and elite 800 runner.
Have you made the decision to compete at the next level? Please explain.
I am sure that I will be running in college but my recruitment process is still open at this time and will likely come to an end during outdoor track season.
How did you get involved with the sport and when?
I was told to join cross country to get in shape for basketball and to stay out of trouble during the hospital.
Do you have any relation or know someone that has attended the Shriners Hospital?
My mom worked at Shriners when she was younger as a PT.
How have you seen the sport change in the state? Please explain.
Definitely bigger rivalries this year, can see a strong divide between the Upper state and the Lower State. Also have seen the top boys make a name for the state on a national level more than ever.
What was your motivation for your final XC season?
My motivation was to enjoy it and make sure I left an impact for the younger kids on my team.
If there is one thing in the world you could do, what would it be and why?
If I could do anything in the world it would probably be to be able to breath underwater and talk to fish because I think that would be a lot of fun.
