Westside's Dennis Martin, Brandi Myers and Tempest Vance signed National Letter of Intents to continue their track and field career at the collegiate level.

Martin will join the Florida Gators in the fall. Martin along with teammates Brandon Brown, Martez Brown and Mauricus Brown set a new Nike Indoor Championships record of 29.45 in the 4x55 hurdle relay last season. Westside boys took one, two and three in the 110 meter hurdles event at the state meet (2004) that took place from May 7-8 at Spring Valley High School. Brandon Brown (14.29), Dennis Martin (14.31) and Martez Brown (14.45) were the Westside finishers. Martin of Westside sealed the 400 hurdles win in 53.26 seconds.

Myers and Vance will continue to be teammates as they will continue their academic and athletic career at South Carolina State University. Myers' major focus at the high school level is hurdles while Vance focuses on the hurdles, long jump and triple jump.

The Westside boys finished second at the 2004 state championships with 92 points, 1.5 points behind team champion Ridgeview. The girls also finished second, with Northwestern placing first in the 4A team standings.
