LEXINGTON -- Lexington junior Colby  Coulter moved from 11th in overall state database rankings to first following a first place time of 15 minutes, 35 seconds at the Lexington Invitational Wednesday.  

"I really thought he would break 16 yesterday, flat fast course and some pretty good competition with Chapin and teammate Tony Morales," said Lexington coach Bailey Harris. "However, I didn’t think he would go that low! I really believed all along that he would break Josh Walker's school record of 15:44, but thought it would be at Sandhills (Research Center) later on."

The SCTCCCA poll released Oct. 5 ranked Coulter eighth in the state.

The Wildcats' time is a new personal best. Coulter finished first this past Saturday at the Furman Invitational (16:38), first at the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational (16:23), first at a Dorman meet (17:00) and sixth at SCTCCCA Coaches Classic (16:11).
