"As he continues to develop his technique over the next four years at Wren High School, I fully expect him to become a cornerstone of our throws program and a competitor to watch out for at the state level." - Frank Grand, Wren track and field throws coach
Wren's Miles Hall is leading the Class of 2030 in the boys javelin for the 2026 South Carolina high school track and field season. Hall's top mark of 40.74 meters happened April 8 during a T.L. Hanna home meet in Anderson. See more javelin analysis in this week's MileSplit South Carolina Future Stars in the javelin.
The Hurricanes' parents competed in track and field in high school - both as throwers. Miles told MileSplit SC his dad played football in college and the NFL.
Mauldin junior Walker Ferguson is the state's top javelin thrower - all classifications. Ferguson has a season best and personal best of 63.99-meters.
Hall's javelin best ranks him in the top 100 (97th). The Hurricane, in his first year on the team, also competes in the discus and shot put. Hall's discus season best is 34.97 meters and shot put best of 11.6 meters.
"Miles success so far really is a testament to his natural explosive power," said Wren throws coach Frank Grand. "We really haven't worked a ton yet on developing his technical base so to see him performing at this level so early in his career is a clear indicator that he's a special talent in the making."
Grand says Miles is a hard worker "who already brings a 'triple threat' mentality to the team every day, due to his success in shot put, discus and javelin."
"I got involved in this sport because I had always loved watching Olympics and I thought I have a good body for it," MileSplit told MileSplit SC. "Also my dad was a big influence letting me know all about it and cheering me on."
Miles hobbies outside of track and field include playing football, basketball, hunting and fishing.
"I would have to say one quote it would just to stay on your grind no matter what it is and things will get better."- Miles Hall
Next up for Wren is the John Scott Hartness Invitational in Georgia April 11.
"As he continues to develop his technique over the next four years at Wren High School, I fully expect him to become a cornerstone of our throws program and a competitor to watch out for at the state level," said Grand.
