USA Nationals Recap: Hastings Moves Into First Following Lane Violation by 400 Winner

Shawn Crawford placed second in the 100 finals Saturday in 10.17 during day three of the USA National Championships. Justin Gaitlin finished first in 10.08. Crawford ran the fastest 100 semi-finals time of 9.99.

South Carolina\'s Natasha Hastings qualified for the Pan Ams with a second place finish in the junior women\'s 400. Hastings crossed the line in 51.34. Even though Hastings was overtaken by Brittany Daniels (Fla.) in the 400, Daniels was later disqualified for a lane violation, giving Hastings the win.

South Carolina alumna Lashinda Demus (Nike) captured the women\'s 400 hurdles title in 53.35. Tiffany Ross-Williams DNF following a fall on the frontstretch, clipping the last hurdle.

USC\'s Kenneth Ferguson ran the fastest semifinal 400 hurdles time of 48.65. The finals is slated for Sunday at 2:57 p.m. (PST).

Crawford (fourth), Leroy Dixon (eighth) and Rodney Martin (12th) qualified for the 200 semi-finals in the open division. The semi finals is slated for 2:06 p.m. (PST) Sunday with the finals scheduled for a 3:47 p.m. (PST) start time.

In the women\'s 200 preliminaries South Carolina\'s Shalonda Solomon posted an eighth place time of 22.95, making Sunday\'s 1:45 p.m. (PST) semi-final round. The final round of the women\'s open 200 is slated for 3:37 p.m.

Amber Campbell (Coastal Carolina volunteer assistant coach) posted a third place mark of 226-02 in the women\'s hammer throw, qualifying for the World Championships. (PST).
