scrunners: What made you decide to hold a road race?
haughey: For my senior project, I wanted to do something for charity that I could get the community involved in. My parents helped me come up with the idea of holding a 5K road race to raise money, and I jumped on it as I was also excited to learn about the work behind setting up a race.
scrunners: Who have you gone to for guidance on the event?
haughey: For guidance, I have mainly gone to my parents and my coach, Brock Bailey. Coach Bailey is also my mentor for the project, and he will be especially helpful in that he manages our home meets at Nettles during cross country season and can therefore advise me on how to most efficiently hold my event as well as how to record the times and places of participants.
