Swansea Alumna Diana Willard named CVAC Runner of the Week

Anderson college freshman Diana Willard received the Women's Runner of the Week honor by the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference (D-II).

In Willard's college debut the six-time state cross country champion placed fifth at the Eye Opener in Spartanburg on Sept. 3. During high school Willard also competed for Pelion.

Daniel Amick, a senior at Mars Hill college and former Swansea runner was named South Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week. Amick finished second overall in the collegiate men's 8,000-meter event at the Eye Opener in 26:46.81.

Anderson College returns to action Saturday at the Lander Invitational in Greenwood.

Mars Hill, located in North Carolina returns to South Carolina this Saturday for the Clemson Invitational.

Other notes:
Christ Church graduate Ashley Anderson competed for Vanderbilt University at the Belmont (Tenn.) Invitational. Anderson placed 41st out of 120 runners. Vanderbilt captured the team title.

Winthrop sophomore Brad Orr led the Eagles' to the team title at the Campbell Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C. Orr covered the 5,000-meter course in 15:45. Sophomore Trevor Beesley (Greenwood) and Brandon Hudgins (Northwestern) placed third and fourth, respectively in the meet for Winthrop.
