Hillcrest alumna Jennifer Hitt, a sophomore at Anderson College captured her second CVAC individual title Friday in Anderson at Pine Lake Golf Course.
Hitt set a new 5,000-meter course record (19:17) enroute to the team\'s win, over Queens College (N.C.), 51-62. The previous record of 19:29 was set in 2002 by Mt. Olive\'s Beth Schultz.
Diana Willard (Pelion/Swansea), six-time high school state cross country champion, was second in for Anderson College, in her first collegiate season. Willard covered the course in 19:44.2.
Converse College was fourth in team standings with Mary Cloonan (Byrnes HS) fifth overall for the All-Stars in 20:07.9.
Coker was 11th in the team standings and Limestone rounded out the 12 team scores.
Lees-McRae junior Lewis Martin finished first in the men\'s 8,000-meter run with St. Andrews\' Chris Miller second. Martin covered the 4.96 mile course in 26:58.1, 1.1 seconds off the course record, set in 2004 by Coker College\'s David Green (Easley HS). Green, a senior Cobra finished fourth in the 2005 meet in 27:48.9. First in for Limestone college was Brent Clausing (sixth, 28:03.2).
