scrunners: When did you start to run?
barnett: When I was around 10 years old.

scrunners: What or whom gave you the idea to start to run?
barnett: Both of my older brothers were runners.

scrunners: Do you remember your first race?
barnett: Yes, it was the Paris Mountain 5K.

scrunners: How did you do and when was it?
barnett: It was Jan. 10, 1997 and I won first place in my age group.

scrunners: How would rate your 2004 cross-country season at Riverside?
barnett: I did not run the 2004 cross-country season.

scrunners: What kind of goals have you set for the 2005 cross country?
barnett: I would like to get All-State.

scrunners: Have you accomplished some of these goals so far?
barnett: I PRed at coaches classic and I finished 16th at the Furman Invitational.

scrunners: What kind of training are you doing to as the season progresses?
barnett: Speed workouts and easy runs.

scrunners: Who do you train with the most at Riverside?
barnett: I train the most with Drew Sayce and Teddy Gramz (Chris Swit) at Riverside.

scrunners: Does or did anyone else in your family run?
barnett: I think most of us have run.

scrunners: Did they run in high school or college? If so, where?
barnett: Adrienne ran for SMC and Wofford, Sara ran for SMC, and Asher ran for Riverside High School, Newberry, and Wofford. Joe ran for Eastside High School, Riverside High School, Lees Mc-Crae and currently runs for Adams State.

scrunners: What kind of race strategy works for you? If your strategy changes, how do you adapt to the changes?
barnett: I am actually not sure which race strategy works for me.

scrunners: Where is your favorite place to run? Why?
barnett: My favorite place to run is around the Furman University campus because there is a lot of grass and little traffic.

scrunners: What would you say is the most prominent meet you have competed in and how did you do?
barnett: The Footlocker South Regional and I placed 95th in the junior boys race.

scrunners: On Oct. 19 how did the Region 3-3A race unfold, where you were individual champion and Riverside boys were team champion?
barnett: When I took the lead after the first mile my legs felt really tired so I just ran to win and the Union course is hard because the huge hill.

scrunners: What kind of plans do you have for next year?
barnett: Win state.

scrunners: Who is your biggest individual and team rival?
barnett: My biggest individual rival is Chris Scanlon and the team rival is Bluffton.

scrunners: When do these rivals become the most intense? Explain.
barnett: I do not think the rivalry is that intense because Riverside wins honorably.

scrunners: Do you or Riverside have any team traditions prior to a meet? Explain.
barnett: We quack it up between strides. Right before the gun Gramz always starts behind me and drums on my back.

scrunners: What do you consider a true cross country runner?
barnett: I consider a true cross-country runner someone who trains hard and does his best.

scrunners: Where is your favorite place to train near Riverside?
barnett: My favorite place to train at Riverside is to the bull.

scrunners: With a brother at Adams State that is running cross country, what kind of advice has he given you about running at the high school and collegiate level?
barnett: He has told me to train hard and run fast.

scrunners: What do you see happening with South Carolina high school running in the future?
barnett: I think high school running in South Carolina is going to grow tremendously over the years.

scrunners: Have you ever been injured?
barnett: Yes, I was injured during the summer.

scrunners: What kind of training did you do during injuries?
barnett: I took about two weeks off because my foot hurt too much to run on.

scrunners: How do you stay motivated during this time and throughout each season?
barnett: I keep my eye on winning.

scrunners: What would you like to accomplish with running in the future?
barnett: I plan on getting faster since I have started to learn more about running.

scrunners: How do you see yourself achieving these accomplishments?
barnett: I see myself winning and training hard.

scrunners: What do you look for in a coach and what do you expect a coach to look for in you?
barnett: I look for a coach that cares about running and I expect the coach to know how to train me.

scrunners: Have you ever thought about coaching cross country or track? If so, what level and why?
barnett: No, I don\'t think I will be a coach.
