Ridge View rising senior Correll Johnson talks with MileSplit South Carolina about the 2026 track season and 2026 cross country season.
Looking back at the track and field season, what were your biggest personal accomplishments? Why?
Probably running 800 and mile the because I started running the 800 late and I was able to still break two minutes, and the mile because it was my first year, and I ran a sub 4:30.
How'd you get involved in the sport?
I was a basketball player and came out one year and tried it out and enjoyed it.
How's cross country training going?
Good but really hard at the same time I know it's gonna pay off.
What would you like to improve for the 2026 South Carolina cross country season?
Running in the 15's this year and placing better then I did last year.
What's your motivation for 2026?
Just knowing what I did last year and knowing that I can have a way better year this year.
Tell us about your team, what do you enjoy about the Ridge View team?
We have really good coaches and I know they're going to help me get to the next level and push me everyday.
What's your favorite cross country course and why?
Probably Wendy's because that's where I ran my fastest time.
What meets are you looking forward to racing?
Honestly Wendy's again and racing better at Newberry (SCTCCCA Coaches Classic).
What has been your biggest challenge in the sports?
Probably waking up every morning and running because it's really challenging.
What other hobbies do you have?
Swimming , reading, playing videos games and drawing.
Do you see yourself coaching in the future?
No after college, I'm done!
