Niehaus Set for Fourth Footlocker Nationals

Stanford bound Kate Niehaus will compete in her fourth consecutive Footlocker National meet this upcoming Saturday, as a senior at Spring Valley High School.

The meet will take place Dec. 10 at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif.

Niehaus, the state meet record holder in cross country (17:36.81) and also the state meet record holder in the 1600 (4:59.14) and 3200 (10:47.72) events, captured her fourth consecutive state meet title Nov. 5.

Niehaus finished second overall in the girl's seeded race at Footlocker South meet Nov. 26., her best finish in four years in the seeded event.

Niehaus' two sisters, Emily (10th grade) and Annie (8th grade) are current runners at Spring Valley.

Stanford women captured their third NCAA cross country title in school history and the second national championship in the last three years at the NCAA Cross Country Championships Nov. 21 in Terra Haute, Ind.

On the east coast this Saturday is the USATF National Junior Olympics Championships in Smithfield, R.I. Confirmed entries competing in this weekend's Junior Olympics National meet from South Carolina include Meagan Brandli (Ashley Hall), Samantha Coburn (Clover), Kristen Thomas (Clover), and Stephen Usery (Easley).
