So sorry for the late article, safe to say its ACC Championship time. Which also turns out to be, "Give Adam a test in every class time."

So I have been hitting the books these past few days, and preparing to depart to Virginia Tech Thursday. I jump Friday at 5:30 p.m.

So tomorrow I'm going to make the trip, unpack in the hotel, and then do a light "shake out" (warm up) at the track while I watch our heptathletes kick some rear (The Hept. begins tomorrow). I am very confident in myself, I have never lost an ACC championship, but that actually seems to put pressure on myself.

I hope to break the ACC meet record of 7-3.05 (1987: William Skinner, Md.). I have a goal to win all eight championships (four indoor, four outdoor) so the closer I get the more pressure I feel. I have always enjoyed pressure, I feel that pressure can make an athlete or break an athlete.

This all depends on the strength of mind that the athlete has. I feel that physical preparation leads to metal strength. If you train hard, train fast, and leave the track knowing you did so, you will and should know that you are ready when the competition is in front of you. This is how I deal with pressure, and "good competition," which I saw was a topic on the (scrunners.com) message board.

Good competition will bring the best out of you, only when you have put yourself in a position to bring the best out of yourself. Pressure can be a great thing if you choose for it to be.

I wish you all great training and competition this week and I hope that your best wishes are behind me and the Clemson Tigers. As always feel free to contact me with any questions, and thanks again for noticing my qualification to the NCAA meet! I'll see you next week!
