SCTCCCA Releases Organization Updates

The SCTCCCA, South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association, released a news update earlier today about Coaches Classic, State Track and Field Meet, and Class 4A qualifying procedures.

PROPOSAL-Approved
Qualifying Procedure for 4A Cross Country
Spring Valley proposes that the 4A manual, page 28, be changed to reflect the following qualifying procedure for boys and girls cross country for the 2006-2007 and the 2007-2008 school years:

"V. State Meet Qualifying:
A. The top three teams from those regions with five or six schools and the top four teams from those regions with seven schools will qualify for the State Meet. Any individual runner, whose team does not qualify for the State Meet and who places one-15 in their region will qualify to compete in the State Championship Meet as an individual. All region Meet Directors must submit all qualifying information to Ed Boehmke at Eastside High School on or before Oct. 31."

Qualifying Procedure for 4A Track & Field
Spring Valley proposes that the Class 4A manual, page 61, be changed to reflect the following qualifying procedure for boys and girls track and field for the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 school years:

"GIRLS AND BOYS TRACK REGULATIONS"
Preparations for State Qualifying Track Meets:
I. Each region will conduct their qualifying meets as they always have done. Each school may enter four athletes per individual events into the Region Meet. Regions with 5 or 6 schools will qualify four and regions with 7 schools will qualify 5 in each event to the next qualifying meet.
II. All region qualifiers will go to Spring Valley High School on Saturday, May 5, 2007 and the top eight competitors in each event will qualify for the State Meet. (See time schedule in paragraph X below.)
III. Qualifying for the 100M, 200M, 400M, 100HH, 110HH, 400M IH, 4x100 Relay, and 4x400 Relay will be a follows:
A. There will be five heats in each event. They will be seeded by region champions first - serpentined, then by time for all other qualifiers - serpentined.
B. The heat winner and the fastest three non-winning electronic times will qualify for the state meet.
IV. Qualifying in the 800M, 1600M, 3200M and 4x800 Relay will be as follows:
A. There will be two heats in each event. They will be seeded by region champions first - serpentined, then by time for all other qualifiers - serpentined.
B. The top two finishers in each heat and the fastest four electronic from both heats will qualify for the state meet.
V. Qualifying in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, and Discus will be as follows:
A. There will be three sections in each event. They will be seeded by region champions first - serpentined, then by performance for all other qualifiers - serpentined.
B. Each competitor will take six jumps. Each section winner and the best five non-winning distances from all the sections will qualify for the state meet.
C. All ties for the eight qualifying positions will be broken according to the National Federation Rule Book.
VI. Qualifying in the high jump and pole vault will be as follows:
A. There will be one section in each event and it will be seeded like the running events.
B. All competitors will compete at the same time until eight are left. Those who qualify have the option of stopping or going to a higher height.
C. All ties for the eight qualifying positions will be broken according to the National Federation Rule Book.
D. The starting height for the girls' high jump will be 4'8". The starting height for the boys will be 5'8".
E. The starting height for the girls' pole vault will be 7'.
F. The starting height for the boys' pole vault will be 11'0".
G. The progression in the high jump will be 2" - the pole vault will be 6".

Coaches Classic: March 25
This meet is run by the SCTCCCA. A reminder to coaches, that all teams must provide one official. Sign-up sheets will be on the infield at 8:30 a.m. A coaches meeting will take place at 8:45 a.m. on the infield.

State Meet sign-up: At the Coaches Classic this weekend there will be sign-up sheets for field events (i.e. Class A boys long jump) at the state meet.
