12:31 Rick Crumpler (Spring Valley) proposed that the minutes of the winter meeting be approved. Jim Kilbreth (Spartanburg) seconded the motion. The minutes were approved unanimously.

12:32 Jeff Buys (Dorman) gave a budget report.

12:39 Kevin Shaw (Spring Valley) recognized Tom Cronin (Spring Valley) as the Assistant Cross Country Coach of the Year for 2004.

12:40 John Jones (Spring Valley) announced Maurice Campbell (Dreher) as the Assistant Track Coach of the year for 2005.

12:42 John Jones (Spring Valley) announced Jack LeGrand (Chapin) as the fall inductee into the SCTCCCA Coaches Hall of Fame.

12:53 John Jones (Spring Valley) discussed the state cross country meet site selection by the SCHSL at Sandhills Research Center.

12:55 Jeff Buys (Dorman) discussed payment for the Coaches Classic Cross Country meet.

12:57 Jeff Buys (Dorman) discussed the coaches association email list. To be added to the email list, coaches should send an email to Jeff Buys at BuysJS@Spart6.org.

13:00 Jeff Buys (Dorman) discussed the 2005 Shrine Bowl run. The route will begin at the Shriners Hospital in Greenville and end at Wofford Stadium, the site of the Shrine Bowl, in Spartanburg.

13:05 John Jones (Spring Valley) informed members that they could pick up All-State Certificates from Track.

13:10 John Jones (Spring Valley) announced that Bill Ramborger (South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind) finished second nationally in the National Deaf Track Championship.

13:32 John Jones (Spring Valley) discussed membership dues. Rick Crumpler (Spring Valley) proposed that membership dues be increased from $5 to $8. Richard Luden (West Ashley) seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

13:33 Ollie Wooden (Dreher) discussed coaches association polo shirts. Shirts cost $25. Medium through XXL sizes are available. Members interested in purchasing a shirt should contact Coach Wooden at owooden@richlandone.org.

13:38 Skip Frye (Broome) proposed that the rules meeting be changed to a mandatory session. The motion was seconded by Eddie Sanders (York). The motion passed unanimously.

13:40 Rod Cowan (Westside) gave a report on the top ten state record list. The list will be published on the association website at http://www.eastsideathletics.com/sctrackworld, and coaches wishing to enter a time or mark for the list should send an email to Ed Boehmke (Eastside).

13:46 John Jones (Spring Valley) discussed a proposal made by Jackie O’Rourke (West Ashley) to move the location of the winter meeting to Charleston. The motion was seconded by Steve Wilson (Summerville). The motion was unanimously defeated.

13:48 Rick Crumpler (Spring Valley) proposed a constitution change to go from 6 Vice Presidents to 4 Vice Presidents, with each vice president representing one of the classifications to begin at the time of new elections during the summer meeting in 2006. The motion was seconded by Jeff Buys (Dorman). The motion passed unanimously.

13:51 Rick Crumpler (Spring Valley) proposed that the state track meet be moved from the 44th week on the SCHSL calendar to the 45th week (2nd weekend in May) to begin in the 2006 track season. The motion was seconded by Daniel Brooks (Dreher). The motion passed unanimously.

14:04 Jackie Harris (Mid-Carolina) proposed that any minimum height standard be eliminated in the 1A and 2A levels. Tony Colizzi (Bishop England) seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

14:08 John Jones (Spring Valley) proposed that the starting heights in the Pole Vault and High Jump at the state meet begin one height lower than the lowest qualifying height at the qualifier. The motion was seconded by Kevin Shaw (Spring Valley). The motion passed unanimously.

14:13 Rick Crumpler (Spring Valley) proposed that the height progression in pole vault and high jump when three or less competitors remain in the state meet, be changed to 6 inches and 2 inches respectively. Calvin Hudgins (Northwestern) seconded the motion. The motion passed 59 – 2.

14:17 January 14, 2005 at 10:00 AM will be the time and date of the winter meeting. The meeting will be held at the High School League office.

14:18 President Jones closed the meeting.
