Salute to seniors for Class of 2014 - info. inside how to participate

What was your most memorable race/competition?
My most memorable race was on the Lexington course when I broke 21 minutes for the first time! I remember looking at the time on the clock, and it read 22:26 seconds, and I was so upset, but then my Coach came running over, and told me I had finally broken 21 minutes. I had forgotten the clocks started when the boys began their race, which was two minutes before we had!

Where did you face your biggest competition?
State and region meets were always extremely competitive because place is so important.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
My biggest accomplishment in high school was being part of the varsity Heathwood cross-country in 2012 when we one the state championship!

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?
I wish I didn’t overdo it sometimes. After practice I would go to the gym, and instead of getting stronger it tired me out.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
I had a lot of trouble keeping my iron levels up, and it slowed me down for a while, but I finally got it under control.

What will you miss the most?
My team and coach for sure!

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Don’t overdo it! Remember days off are important.

How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals?
My coach was always so supportive. Even when I had a bad race he always reminded me the next one would be better!

What are your college plans?
I am not running on a college team next year, but I do plan on joining some sort of running club! I think once you start running, it is something you will want to do for the rest of your life!
